The RDN Board gave three readings to and adopted Temporary Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.14, 2026 and Bylaw No. 1285.42, 2026 on May 12, 2026. The bylaws temporarily prohibit the creation of new two-unit building strata lots in rural zones of Electoral Areas A, C, E, F, G, and H.
First reading carried with one opposing vote. On second reading, Director Rogers was opposed to Bylaw 2500.14; Bylaw 1285.42 passed unanimously. Third readings and adoption passed unanimously for both. No conditions were imposed.
A rezoning application for an undisclosed address in the Regional District of Nanaimo, BC, was submitted by an applicant. Council approved the application on May 12, 2026, with Bylaw 2500.14 receiving a second reading opposed by Director Rogers, and Bylaw 1285.42 and all subsequent readings and adoptions carried unanimously.
