Cedar Community Secondary School

The Regional District of Nanaimo board approved a Joint Use Agreement with School District 68 for shared community use of the outdoor pickleball and basketball courts at Cedar Community Secondary School at its May 7 meeting. The motion carried unanimously, with no conditions attached.

The site already hosts four outdoor asphalt pickleball courts with portable nets and tape lines (pickleheads.com). A separate RDN-led public engagement process for Cedar Community Park Expansion has proposed adding a bike pump track, playground, and additional pickleball courts on the school grounds (getinvolved.rdn.ca). The joint-use agreement formalizes after-hours community access to the existing courts and establishes the administrative framework for that broader recreation investment, which remains at the draft concept stage.

The Regional District of Nanaimo’s rezoning application for Cedar Community Secondary School was considered on May 7, 2026. Council approved the application, carried unanimously.
