Council adopted Road Closure Bylaw No. 2246 on May 19, 2026, closing a portion of Aldwynd Road, Langford, to facilitate the Veterans Park Expansion. The motion carried, moved by Councillor Harder and seconded by Councillor Morley.
The road closure implements a recommendation from the Parks and Trails Master Plan approved in February 2026 and builds on the city’s 2022 acquisition of five lots east of Aldwynd Road, including the former Masonic Hall at 679 Goldstream Avenue. A negotiated request for proposals (NRFP) for the Veterans Memorial Park Expansion has already been issued, indicating that procurement for park amenities and supporting infrastructure is underway. With the bylaw adopted, the consolidated parcels can be dedicated as parkland, and the city has completed the site-assembly milestone for the expansion project.
The Council of the City of Langford approved a rezoning application on May 19, 2026, for a portion of Aldwynd Road. The applicant requested a change to permit a residential development. The motion was carried.
